I’m beginning to wonder, is this real life?
Essentially, the newest twitter trending hashtag of #motorcyclevagina is the result of North Carolina legislature’s move to fit abortion restrictions into a motorcycle safety bill.
The War on Women is (not surprisingly) getting dirtier as time goes on. It’s getting to the point that lawmakers will stop at absolutely nothing to make sure that a woman’s access to healthcare is halted and bodily autonomy becomes a thing of the past.
#MotorcycleVagina would eliminate practically every abortion clinic throughout the state of North Carolina through effectively making the standards that clinics need to abide by unrealistically high, all in the name of making sure women receive proper healthcare when getting an abortion.
….right. Because completely eliminating every abortion clinic in a state is affording pregnant women proper healthcare.
I don’t know how long it will take for people to realize, abortions will happen whether you want them to or not. It’s really just that simple. A scared, pregnant, 16-year-old girl who has nowhere to turn to and no support group will do just about anything to terminate her pregnancy. Eliminating clinics and putting bans on abortion will send the number of “back ally” and “wire hanger” procedures through the roof. (There has to be a glass ceiling reference in there somewhere.)
Keeping secrets seems to be the GOP’s forte. In addition to the rush to secretly pass SB5 in Texas, Democratic State Representatives were blind to the motorcycle vagina bill in North Carolina until three minutes before the bill was heard in committee.
When you know your agenda will bring fire and brimstone from the citizens of the state you represent, maybe you shouldn’t be in politics. Just saying.
