Texas: You are Fucking Up

On June 29 a 13-year-old Texas girl was gang raped in an apartment where the attacks were not only filmed but cheered on by other men.

Two of the men, Juan Lozano Ortega, 25, and Edgar Gerardo Guzman Perez, 26, were charged with aggravated assault of a child.

“All of the other males took turns having sex with victim against her will, which lasted through the early morning hours,” the affidavit states.

THIS is where Texas fucked up. Big time.

There is a word for males who take turns “having sex with victim against her will.” It is called rape. There is no reason why this word should not have been used in police reports. That is what happened to this girl and that is the word that should be used.

But no one wants to use it. Apparently rape has become another word added to the list of four letter words that aren’t supposed to be used in polite company.

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not but with all the recent events surrounding Texas legislature taking away women’s rights I’m going to assume that the sexist ideologies found in Texas GOP have infiltrated their entire legal/justice/government system.

Rape has a connotation that strikes fear into women everywhere. It’s a dirty word that when used in accusations it tarnishes reputations permanently whether the charges are true or false. All of this is with proper meaning. There is no reason that the word rape should not inspire these feelings in people.

Through avoiding its usage you decrease the level of severity that this crime holds. Its meaning is diminished while those accused seem to be let off with a less severe sentence and the victim is brushed off, their injuries, both physical and mental, are looked at as a scraped knee and they’re told to walk it off and get back in the game.

This is fucked. The un-named 13-year-old from Texas was raped. The reports should say so.
