According to a policy enacted in 1992, any male who has had sex with another male in the last 30 years cannot donate blood.

What?

I mean, seriously America. Besides the fact that this policy is over two decades old, it was archaic in it’s guidelines when it was put into effect in the first place. Quite obviously, being a gay male is not a direct correlation to life threatening disease such as HIV/AIDS.

Not surprisingly, only one Republican has signed a letter that is meant to spur change in the policy. Senator Mike Enzi from Wyoming put his John Handcock on a letter penned by Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, from Massachusetts.
