Arkansas School Apparently Doesn’t Know it’s Illegal to Discriminate Against Students With HIV

Pea Ridge Public School officials told three students, all of whom are siblings, that they can’t return to school until they provide test results saying that they are HIV-negative.

The school claims that this is being done to protect other students and staff, but, they don’t seem to realize that you can’t catch HIV just by being sneezed on, and they also don’t realize (or care) that what they are doing is completely illegal.

The Americans with Disabilities Act is a thing to help prevent awful things like this happening, however upon finding records that state that the students bio-mother is HIV-positive, Pea Ridge ignored the ADA and went ahead with their own rules, which apparently trump a federal act.

Good job, Pea Ridge Public School.
