Catholic Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis, John C. Nienstedt, who has been described as “controversial” at best, sees the rise in gay marriage, condoms and pornography as the work of the Devil.

Nienstedt has also been quoted as saying, in a wholly condemning rant, “Today, many evil forces have set their sights on the dissolution of marriage and the debasing of family life. Sodomy, abortion, contraception, pornography, the redefinition of marriage, and the denial of objective truth are just some of the forces threatening the stability of our civilization. The source of these machinations is none other than the Father of Lies. Satan knows all too well the value that the family contributes to the fabric of a good solid society, as well as the future of God’s work on earth.”

Meanwhile, Virginia Gurrola, now the former mayor of Porterville, California, has been removed from office in the wake of her efforts to make June LGBT pride month in the town.

Apparently, Porterville was the only California town to support Prop 8 when the trial was still being held, which makes the current activities so surprise, but upsetting nonetheless.

So far the city council has not explicitly stated why they removed Gurrola, which is par the course for removing someone from office. As Gurrola explained, when you remove someone from office you are essentially saying, we don’t like the job that you’re doing. In this case she feels that the town liked what she was doing for the most part, now they just want a new mayor.

Really America? What is going on here.
