In 2011, Grace Brown began to photograph survivors of sexual assault as they hold posters with quotes from their attackers.
Her website and her tumblr account share stories of those who have suffered through assault, and as beautiful as the photos are, you can’t help but feel your heart drop into your stomach as you read the posters.
The idea behind the project is to promote healing through art. Despite the projects beauty, each photograph brings about a wealth of negative emotions as you read through the posters. In a few cases there have been “trigger warnings” for sexual assault placed before the photos due to the graphic nature of what many of the posters say.
