Minibar in Austin, Texas came under fire after an employee (now former-employee) posted the sign on the left outside the establishment.
After firing the employee responsible for the sign, Minibar replaced it with the one on the right, effectively rectifying the incredibly tactless piece of “humor” it had displayed previously.
“Minibar doesn’t condone that sign,” owner Alex Elmiger said. “I give my utmost apology and assure it won’t happen again. As soon as it was brought to my attention, I wanted to do something to rectify the situation.”
According to the sign, one dollar from every domestic beer sale will go to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, in recognition of October since it is not only seen as breast cancer awareness but also domestic violence awareness month.
