imagesCalifornia Governor Jerry Brown signed a law that allows nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and certified nurse midwives to perform abortions.

Specifically, these non-physician clinicians are allowed to perform aspirations, which is a type of first-trimester abortion that involves inserting a small tube through the cervix to remove the fetus.

Up until this point, only doctors were allowed to do the procedure.

This opens up access for Californians who may have been too far away from an abortion clinic to seek care soon enough.

So far this year (and the year is almost over) there have been 473 bills introduced in the US to limit access to abortion. 68 passed, while California is the only state to expand access and care to women.

Here’s another to add to the list of amazing new laws in the state of CA.
