This is another unfortunate case of a young girl who was raped, the justice system failed her and it took an anonymous source, aptly named Anonymous, to get the job done.
This named-nameless source also got the ball rolling in the Steubenville rape case.
This time around, a young girl (14 at the time of the alleged rape) was assaulted and then dumped out in the freezing cold onto the lawn of her home in Missouri. Then, true to many other tales just like this one, the girl who has decided to release her name, Daisy Coleman and her family were harassed to the point that they had to move to another town.
Following this, the Coleman family dropped charges against the accused football player Matthew Barnett. Anonymous then threatened the police of Maryville for allowing this crime to go unpunished.
After two days of internet flurry, Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder called for a grand jury for Coleman’s case.
Although it’s great that Anonymous is making moves, it’s disgusting and pathetic that a Twitter and Tumblr account have to say something in order for justice to begin to happen.
