A new report by Guttmacher has confirmed what we knew all along, providing women with access to birth control saves money.
Taxpayers of the United States spend $12.5 billion each year on unplanned pregnancies, as the study found that two out of three unplanned pregnancies were publicly funded. This is due to numerous reasons, such as the ridiculous costs of healthcare, no available jobs, and the fact that many of the women who had unplanned pregnancies often had little or no access to education, which means that they won’t find better paying jobs and also counts as the cause of the unplanned pregnancy in the first place.
According to the study almost half (49%) of the annual 6.7 million pregnancies in the United States are unplanned.
The study also found that, surprise! Contraception WORKS! Fact: Out of the two-thirds (or about 66%) of women in the United States who are able to have babies but who also practice contraception “consistently and correctly” only account for 5% of total unintended pregnancies.
Who would have thought?
