At a recent performance in Russia, legendary singer Elton John said of the nations gay propaganda laws, “In my opinion, it is inhumane and it is isolating.”

John has received backlash against his statement from Russian leaders including one group that asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to ban him from performing. The leader of the group, the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, referred to John as “this gay guy,” and referred to homosexuals as a whole as “perverts,” when he said “The statement by this gay guy – Elton John – about his support for gays and other perverts during the upcoming concert … is an insult to all Russian citizens,” to a local news source, a perfect illustration of just how much respect they have for homosexuals.

Being the amazing person that he is, John has said that he felt an obligation to still perform in Russia and to support the fans he has there that have been to many of his concerts and also support gay rights.
