Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty Slams Gays in GQ Article

December 18, 2013 by gabnormal

Father of the Duck Dynasty clan, Phil Robertson, made anti-gay statements in a profile for January’s GQ.

Read through the comments section of the article and you’ll see numerous viewpoints being spouted without any regard for what anyone else has to say. Often people make comments about freedom of speech, and how Robertson has the right to his own opinion.

Freedom of speech is a great thing that not everyone has (I’ll leave it at that considering American’s right to freedom of speech is questionable at times). And yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that’s part of being human and is part of our rights as being humans. However, it’s opinions that spawn hate and injury to others. Robertson’s statements reinforce the discrimination and hate spewed towards the LGBT community, regardless of the fact that he safeguards his statements with “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”

The whole, “You’re a sinner – But I’m not going to judge” mantra is a farce. By labeling someones actions as sinful you are immediately passing judgement whether you like it or not. Robertson is not only passing judgement but creating an atmosphere that discriminates and hates gays. Now we’re just waiting to see what A&E has to say about this.

  1. Joe Gerault says:

Your freedom to express your views freely and without condemnation, whether I agree with them or not, is the same freedom Phil Robertson should have to express his views, whether I agree with them or not,

  2. Dan says:

you people always say its hate for the gays its the behavior or the act that I hate not the person, Phil never once said he hated gays its the sin of being gay and its in the Bible Leviticus 20:13 and we believe in the Bible so we are not passing judgement on anyone just stating the facts of the Bible the trouble is you choose not to believe the Bible and that is where the differences come.. Look at Sodom and Gomorrah all the gays and other sin, God destroyed the city and people have been look for thousands of years for it and can’t find anything from it. Gay people are created equal just like every man, women, and child on this earth and God loves everyone of them, but he can not tolerate the sin of man and that’s why his only son Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood for all of us so that we could have the mercy and grace of God when we do sin. So please stop saying we are homofobos. You are doing exactly to us what you say in your article that Phil and us that believe like Phil are doing, so to me that is being hypocritical. So if you voice your opinion so can Phil and the rest of us. So next time you respond remember not to pass judgement or practice what you preach.
