Normally I’m not too fond of Queen Bey, but with her piece on gender inequality she’s won my heart more than ten times over.
With a byline that reads Beyonce Knowles-Carter, the R&B legend made it well known that gender equality does not currently exist anywhere, but specifically in the United States, with women earning 23% less than men on an annual basis.
What’s better than just having a super famous celeb spouting a fact that everyone already knows is that Bey calls on all men to make a difference in the gap between genders. She says, “Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers, and sisters earn more—commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender,” in her piece for The Shriver Report.
With Beyonce finally on board the feminism ship we can only hope that this statement, and hopefully those in the future, will help make a difference.
